Why Sponsor?
What a year it’s been for the iPhone market! Less than a year ago, Apple launched the App Store and we’ve seen the release of almost 60,000 native applications. This, coupled with an already robust accessories market for the iPhone and iPod touch, make this a great time for our emerging iPhone ecosystem.
iPhoneDevCamp (in its third year) is the largest iPhone developer gathering outside of Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. This year, the event will be held at the Yahoo! headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA, from Friday July 31st through Sunday August 2nd. We are thrilled that Yahoo! will be providing an excellent venue for us this year.
At iPhoneDevCamp each year, 500 or so iPhone developers gather over a long weekend to develop apps, share knowledge, network with their peers, and learn about the latest technologies. It’s also an opportunity for companies such as yours to interact with the leading iPhone developers. These are the influencers in our market.
Coupled with influencer interaction, iPhoneDevCamp attracts strong media attention each year, as you can see on our Press page.
We’re actively looking for additional sponsors to help make iPhoneDevCamp 3 a success. Running an event is expensive, and sponsors play an important role in making this event happen.
This is the first year that we have included a registration fee for attendees ($50), which will be used to help offset some of the costs to operate the event.
We don’t have sponsor tiers levels, although we are asking for a minimum commitment of $1,000. Sponsors who give more will be given increased visibility at the event. In 2008, we had over three dozen sponsors which took a great deal of coordination for an all-volunteer team. This is why we are doing away with the $500 entry point this year. Less total sponsors this year means less logistics for the volunteers and, more importantly for you, greater visibility for those organizations that do sponsor. We are aiming for 10-20 sponsors this year.
As a BarCamp-style event, 100% of sponsor dollars go to the event production. This is a not-for-profit event (the organizers and volunteers do not get paid).
In prior years, we have accepted giveaways from sponsors as a form of sponsorship. While we are accepting giveaways this year, we will not be accepting giveaways in lieu of a cash sponsorship. Sponsors who are only able to provide giveaways will be thanked during the contest results on Sunday, but will not be eligible for the sponsor benefits listed below. If you do have giveaway ideas for the contest, please consider coupling that with a cash sponsorship of $1,000 or more greater visibility at the event.
iPhoneDevCamp 3 Sponsors receive:
- Listing on the event website – new sponsor blog entry, link in right nav, logo and link on Sponsors page (this page)
- Logo on sponsor signage at the event
- Logo displayed on overhead during portions of the event
- Speaking time at the event (short intros)
- Guaranteed attendance for two sponsor representatives at the event
There is no organization running iPhoneDevCamp, just a group of organizers and volunteers. We’re asking for financial commitments now, with payment required before we list folks as sponsors.
Please email Raven Zachary, raven@iphonedevcamp.org, for additional details. Sponsorship deadline is 07/24/09.
